Accommodation options for International Students

Choosing the accommodation that is right for you is important. Comfort and safety are vital in allowing you to fully concentrate on your studies.

Holmesglen offers:

Institute Accommodation Holmesglen owns a number of houses in the community. The accommodation is modern, fully-furnished houses or apartments which are located close to each campus. Each house has 2 to 5 bedrooms and every student has their own room. Institute Accommodation includes gas, electricity, internet and local telephone calls. It does not include food or cleaning expenses.

Living in institute accommodation is a great way to meet and learn about people from other countries whilst sharing the house.

Homestay Accommodation

Homestay means living with an Australian family in their home. For many students who are away from home for the first time, it is a good way to learn about the Australian lifestyle and customs while living in a family environment. A homestay family in Australia can mean many things. It can be a family consisting of a mother, father and children, or a single mother or father with or without children. Australia is a multicultural country - many people from different countries have come to live here and are now ‘Australians’. Homestay is a good choice if you want to improve your English.

Home and Contents insurance is strongly advised to cover you for the theft of your valuable items, i.e. your computer, jewellery, stereo or DVD, digital camera, etc. House burglars will target homes if a door or window is left unlocked by you or one of your housemates, and because of the number of computers or laptops which may be found in one house. Get to know your neighbours well because they may be of great assistance when you are at school and the house is left unattended
