Health Matters

Overseas Student Health Cover – OSHC

As an International Student, it is a condition of your student visa that you have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the entire duration of your stay in Australia. OSHC gives you access to out of hospital and in hospital medical services to help you maintain your health and peace of mind – accidents and illness do happen, with OSHC you are covered!

This cover must be paid before a visa is issued. This protects you from rate rises in OSHC and gives you the security of continuous cover. 

During the Orientation Program, you will be asked to fill out an OSHC application form. Holmesglen will forward your form to Allianz Global Assistance OSHC for processing and you will receive your OSHC Card within 3 weeks.

Medical Doctors are available at Holmesglen’s Chadstone and Moorabbin campuses during semesters. Appointments can be made in person at Student Services, or by phoning:

Bulk billing applies, so you must bring your Overseas Student Health Card to the appointment. If you do not bring your Medicare Card or your Overseas Student Health Card to the appointment, you will be charged the full fee for the consultation. You will then be issued with a receipt which will enable you to claim a rebate.

There are a large number of doctors, medical centers that will accept your Overseas Student Health Card, you can find out their locations by visiting the OSHC website www.oshcallianzassistance.com.au.
